Opportunities for Giving

Saint Simon Stock Parish Capital Campaign for the Church Vestibule Project seeks pledged commitments to be fulfilled over the next three years or less. Gifts of cash or marketable securities (and matching gifts, if applicable from employers) are the preferred methods of giving to the campaign. Other forms of giving such as deferred gifts are acceptable and may offer qualified donors an attractive alternative, enabling them to significantly increase the level of their gifts. The following are the various ways you can give:

Gifts of Cash

This is an outright gift of cash by a donor, for which the donor receives income tax benefits as prescribed by the current law. Pledging a gift of cash over three years may allow a donor the opportunity to make a more substantial gift while affording one the opportunity to adjust the timing and amount of each payment to achieve the most beneficial tax treatment. A donor can also choose to pay pledges over time through the automated parish electronic-giving program.

Gift of Securities

Gifts of stock may be a convenient and tax-wise way to make a contribution. Speak to your tax advisor for details. Stock certificates can be transferred by the donor directly to the Parish, or they may be transferred through the donor’s broker.

Gifts of Real Estate

A gift of real estate will be credited at the appraised value of the gift at the time is made.

Matching Gifts

Corporate matching gifts are an easy way for people to increase the impact of their personal contributions to the campaign. By taking advantage of a company’s matching gift program, a donor can generate an additional gift that may automatically double or triple his or her own contribution. Check with your company’s human resources department to find out about its matching-gift policy.

IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are 70 ½ and older, you may be able to take advantage of the IRA Charitable Rollover and donate your IRA assets while avoiding income tax on the IRA withdrawal. You can take advantage of this annually. I suggest doing it before December 31, 2024, and January the following year. To learn more, speak to your tax advisor and call Father Michael.

Installments

Your pledge can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Payments can also be made through our automated Parish electronic-giving program.
